Salary £80,000 to £100,000 plus Benefits

What You Will Do:

- Own and maintain the system-level architecture, ensuring seamless integration across emission, chemical, thermal, electrical, and vacuum subsystems.

- Define and lead structured experimental planning, focusing on validating hypotheses and driving rapid iteration from concept to hardware.

- Establish a fast-cycle build-test-learn process, ensuring prototypes are designed for measurable performance and continuous improvement.

- Act as the senior technical authority, resolving conflicts and making decisive calls between scientific and engineering constraints.

- Lead a small, talented team, fostering a culture of rigorous empiricism, intellectual honesty, and collaboration.

- Translate complex technical findings into actionable engineering directions that align with system-level objectives.

What You Will Bring:

- A Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in physics, engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, or a closely related field.

- Proven ability to translate scientific concepts into functioning experimental hardware and deliver results under real-world constraints.

- Strong thermodynamic literacy and expertise in managing system-level energy balances.

- A track record of successful rapid hardware development, with experience in short build-test-learn cycles.

- Leadership experience managing small technical teams and driving impactful results.
