Principal / Associate Transport Planner – Oxford

Overview

I'm working with a fast-growing, award-winning consultancy that's looking to appoint a Principal or Associate Transport Planner to join their expanding Oxford team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planning professional looking to step into a more senior position with genuine influence over project delivery, client relationships, team development and business growth. The role would suit someone who enjoys a mix of technical delivery, project leadership and client-facing responsibility
, while still remaining involved in a varied portfolio of development-led projects.

The Role

You’ll take a leading role across a range of transport planning projects, working closely with clients, local authorities and internal teams to deliver high-quality advice and commercially aware solutions. Projects span residential, mixed-use, commercial, logistics, education and regeneration schemes, offering varied and technically interesting work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage transport planning projects from inception through to completion
  • Prepare and review:
    • Transport Assessments
    • Transport Statements
    • Travel Plans
    • Access Appraisals
    • Technical Notes
  • Oversee junction capacity modelling and transport analysis using:
    • TRICS
    • Junctions (ARCADY / PICADY)
    • Other transport modelling software
  • Manage client relationships and attend stakeholder meetings
  • Liaise with Local Highway Authorities and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Assist with project financial management and fee proposals
  • Contribute to business development and work-winning activities
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong experience within development-led transport planning
  • Ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports
  • Knowledge of relevant planning policy and transport guidance
  • Experience with:
    • AutoCAD
    • TRICS
    • Junctions (ARCADY / PICADY)
    • Transport modelling tools
  • Commercial awareness and leadership capability
  • Chartered status or working toward chartership is beneficial
