About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in our Oxford office.
It is an exciting time to be part of our Sustainability Group, which has a presence in every Hoare Lea office across the country.
We provide a diverse sustainability consultancy service that promotes sustainable development for a range of projects across all sectors.

In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Support development of energy strategies with our clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.
- Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, which may include but are not limited to building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, overheating, embodied carbon of materials and circular economy opportunities.
- Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.) from early design stages through to completion.
- Support the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
- Support the training of graduate members of the team.
- Contribute to the development of junior team members.
- Work with other members of the firm on research and development initiatives to keep the industry at the cutting edge of knowledge.
- Engage in Hoare Lea’s industry research and development studies and in authoring industry guidance, offering the opportunity to influence the sector directly.
You are likely to have some knowledge and competence in a selection of the following fields:
- Building Regulations Part L, Overheating, TM54, NABERS assessments using IES.
- In‑Use energy modelling and assessment.
- BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments.
- Bespoke sustainability charters.
- Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole‑life carbon reports and circular‑economy statements.
- Whole‑life carbon assessments – using One Click or other methodologies.
- Net‑zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations.
- Experience working within the built environment sector.
- Current employment within a sustainability or engineering consultancy, looking for a new challenge within a practice at the forefront of the field.
- Expertise (with a degree in an applicable field) and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
- A dynamic team member within a progressive and well‑respected firm.
- Good communication skills and enthusiasm for working within a team environment.
- A serious commitment to sustainability.
