Lead the provision and maintenance of NHS estates buildings, mechanical and specialist services, plant and equipment to ensure a safe and suitable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

• Manage and support mechanical and specialist services, plant and equipment across multiple sites.
• Provide technical and specialist advice to managers and staff in mechanical systems and disciplines.
• Specify, tender and manage all mechanical services, systems and contracts.
• Travel between Trust sites as required.
• Provide evidence‑based, cost‑effective engineering contracts, ensuring compliance with statutory instruments, Department of Health guidance and industry best practice.
• Maintain all hospital mechanical engineering systems in safe and fit‑for‑purpose condition.
• Issue tasks and close work orders in the CAFM system with the team leader.
• Issue permits to work, read and approve RAMS, obtain and review quotes for works.
• Process Ulysses reports for water and mechanical issues.
• Carry out risk assessment reviews and resolve issues.
• Lead the Mechanical Engineering team and provide regular reports to the Senior Manager.

• Good standard of general education plus recognised diploma (HNC/HND) in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction or equivalent.
• Degree/HND or equivalent experience in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction.
• Post‑graduate coursework or diploma in a relevant discipline.
• Completion of a structured five‑year engineering training program.
• Full current driving licence.
• Health & Safety training (NEBOSH, IOSH, First Aid, etc.).
• Membership of relevant professional bodies (IHEEM, HEFMA, CIBSE, IET, CIOB).
• Experience as an Authorised Person in several HTMs.

• Managing engineering building services, operational maintenance and repair services.
• Operational budget management.
• Contractor management and specification.
• Experience with complex engineering systems in healthcare environments.
• Safe system of work and health & safety issues.
• Estates Management & Project Management (multi‑project).
• HTM’s, HBN’s and estates legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, BMS and CAFM systems.
• Effective multi‑disciplinary teamwork.
• Highly organised with ability to manage complex workload.
• Practical knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of systems/equipment.
• Planning and coordination of routine and complex maintenance with contractors.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
• Substantial specialist experience in a multi‑site healthcare engineering environment.
