OverviewA premier independent geoscience and engineering consultancy is seeking a highly motivated, inquisitive, and thorough Senior Geophysicist to drive technical excellence, conduct research and development of innovative data collection methods and processes and lead high-profile, complex near-surface investigations. Operating at the cutting edge of research and development, this office-based role carries a national and international remit across transport infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, unexploded ordnance (UXO) detection, and environmental sectors.
You will act as a pivotal technical lead and subject matter expert, collaborating directly with the executive leadership team to design complex survey solutions and mentor the next generation of geoscience talent.
- Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree (MSc/PhD) in Geophysics or a closely related geoscience discipline. - Experience:
Substantial verified hands‑on experience in high‑resolution, near‑surface geophysical investigations, with a proven track record of managing high-value projects from initial proposal design through to final delivery. - Methodology Expertise:
Advanced proficiency across Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetics (EM), Magnetometry, Microgravity, Electrical methods (Resistivity, Induced Polarisation), and Seismic methods (P‑ and S‑wave refraction, surface wave analysis). - Software Mastery:
Expert data processing and interpretation capabilities utilizing Oasis Montaj, Geo Giga, Surf Seis, Res2
Dinv, Radan, or Aarhus Workbench. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, or QGIS is essential;
Python scripting for data automation is highly desirable. - Compliance & Delivery:
Absolute commitment to rigorous quality assurance frameworks, safety‑critical site workflows, and the clear communication of complex technical data to non‑technical client stakeholders.
- Position:
Permanent, predominantly office-based with occasional UK and international field oversight. - Remuneration:
