Mechanical Design Engineer
Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity? Do you have strong Solid Works experience, a background in 3D CAD, and the ability to produce engineering drawings to BS8888 standards? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on CAD experience and a proven background in concept design, product development, CAD-CAM, and supporting products through build and testing.
Permanent Position
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 (DOE)

Job Description- Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Solid Works, working to BS8888 standards
- Create 2D CAD drawings using Draft Sight and produce schematic drawings where required
- Develop concept designs and support new product development from initial ideas through to production
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), documentation, and revision control using SAP/PDM systems
- Carry out document checking and approve/sign off engineering drawings
- Support the build and testing of prototype and production parts and assemblies
- Provide hands-on CAD-CAM engineering support to manufacturing and production teams
- Assist with fault finding, diagnosis, and design improvements during build and testing
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, accurate, and suitable for production
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong Solid Works experience with excellent 3D modelling capabilities
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings to BS8888 standards
- Good 2D CAD experience, ideally with Draft Sight
- Experience creating BOMs, managing engineering documentation, and revision control using SAP/PDM or similar systems
- Hands-on CAD-CAM engineering experience
- Experience supporting prototype and production builds, testing, and assembly
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience with concept design and product development
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with manufacturing and engineering teams
