As our new Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will provide vital financial and commercial support to the business, offering timely and meaningful insights that enable effective decision-making. A key focus is helping deliver accurate financial results, value‑add analysis and robust forecasting and budgeting support, all while driving improvements in overall business performance. The position involves analysing financial results, understanding cost drivers, and developing reporting that strengthens visibility of margins and cost.

You will support the delivery of forecasts and budgets by creating models that clarify how financial targets will be met and highlight opportunities and risks. The role also contributes to business case development, ensuring robust tracking of return on investment, and provides ad‑hoc market and business analysis to guide strategic decisions. Success in this role relies on building strong relationships with stakeholders across Group Operations, as well as collaborating effectively within the Finance team and the wider organisation.

Through strong business partnering and clear financial insight, this role helps deepen business understanding and supports continuous improvement across OUP.

Essential Qualifications
  • Finance qualification or studying for a professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Commitment to continual personal professional development
  • Strong attention to detail and works to high levels of accuracy
  • Able to analyse data to solve problems and make informed recommendations
  • Well‑organised with the ability to manage a complex workload with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Experience of MS Office (including strong Excel skills) and other management information systems
Desirable Qualifications
  • Good communication skills
  • Drive to work in a business partnering role
  • Ability to implement new ideas, with drive to push through
