Following recent growth and success, we have an exciting opportunity for a RICS Chartered Surveyor / Registered Valuer to join our highly respected and expanding Rural Valuation Team in Summertown, Oxford.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Head of Rural Valuation, supporting the delivery of valuation advice across national and regional rural asset portfolios. This will include the valuation of agricultural land, farms, estates, equestrian property, country houses and other rural assets for a wide range of clients and purposes, while also helping to develop new client relationships and business opportunities.
This role offers the opportunity to join a growing national team of more than 45 rural valuers, providing advice to private, institutional and public sector clients. The Valuation Team forms part of the Partnership's wider Rural Division and provides independent, specialist valuation advice for a broad range of purposes including financial reporting, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, secured lending, succession planning and general professional advice.
The team is also at the forefront of emerging valuation sectors, including nature and environmental assets.
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, including a range of flexible benefits that can be tailored to your individual circumstances. These include the option to purchase additional annual leave, health cash plans, a cycle-to-work scheme and more. We also welcome applications from candidates seeking flexible or agile working arrangements.
Working alongside an experienced Oxford-based team, you will support the continued growth of our Rural Valuation service while delivering a wide range of valuation instructions. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to develop specialist expertise within emerging valuation sectors and disciplines. Day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Valuation of rural property for a range of purposes, including secured lending, taxation and expert witness work, covering farms, estates, residential property and other specialist rural assets
- Managing an existing workflow of valuation instructions across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
- Assisting with financial reporting valuations for private office clients, banks, local authorities, educational institutions and government organisations, including a national portfolio of nature assets, while liaising with clients and auditors.
- Valuation of a diverse range of rural asset classes, including farmland, diversified estates, residential and commercial property, energy assets, woodland, nature assets and specialist agricultural property.
- Delivery of Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) agency work.
- Contributing to business growth through the identification and development of fee-earning opportunities and wider professional work.
- Working with research and marketing teams to promote the valuation service and wider team expertise.
The diversity of the modern rural estate means we welcome applications from experienced candidates both within and outside the traditional rural sector, including those with specialist valuation expertise who are looking to broaden their experience or transition into the rural property market.
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, integrity and a commitment to delivering high-quality valuation advice with exceptional client service at its core. You will be able to manage multiple projects effectively, work across a varied workload and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and engaging directly with clients who own, manage and shape a diverse rural landscape. You will be flexible in your approach, collaborative in your working style and willing to support the development of colleagues within the team.
You will be MRICS qualified with experience in a rural surveying role. Valuation experience and RICS Registered Valuer status would be advantageous, as would membership of the CAAV, although this is not essential. You will also be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of relevant legislation, together with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As the role involves travel, a full UK driving licence is essential.
