Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are a well-established, high performing wealth management practice based in Oxford, advising on over £150 million of client assets. Our clients include successful individuals, families, and business owners who value discretion, continuity, and high-quality, relationship-led advice.

As part of our ongoing, considered growth, we are seeking an experienced Financial Adviser to join the practice.

This is a selective opportunity for an adviser who is motivated by delivering exceptional client outcomes within a professional, well-supported environment.

We’re looking for someone who wants more than just a role — someone who wants to be part of building something meaningful and share in that success.

Mark Barclay Wealth Management is a Senior Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, one of the leading wealth management organizations in the UK. The practice is built on long-term, trusted relationships, offering a personal service tailored to each client’s financial needs and aspirations with a focus on quality, integrity, and excellence. Established in Oxford in 2010 and now based in Summertown, the team continues to grow to deliver comprehensive wealth management solutions to private clients and businesses.

Through St. James’s Place, the practice provides a distinctive approach to investment and retirement planning, using carefully selected external fund managers and independent consultants. The Partner Practice is an Appointed Representative of St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc, which is authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Role Description

You will be responsible for advising a portfolio of existing clients, while also developing new relationships through introductions and referrals.

The role centres on providing holistic, long-term financial planning across investments, pensions, retirement, and protection, with an emphasis on thoughtful, tailored advice rather than transactional activity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing an established book of high-quality clients
  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with individuals and families
  • Leading client meetings, reviews, and onboarding processes
  • Identifying complex planning needs and delivering bespoke solutions
  • Working closely with an experienced paraplanning and support team

Both employed and self-employed structures will be considered, depending on the individual.

Qualifications

We are seeking a polished and commercially astute professional who is comfortable operating in a private client environment:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Financial Adviser
  • Level 4 Diploma qualified (minimum), ideally Chartered or progressing towards Chartered status
  • Current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) with up-to-date CPD
  • A strong track record of building and maintaining client relationships
  • Professional presence, discretion, and attention to detail
  • A long-term, relationship-led approach to client management
  • Experience with St. James's Place may be beneficial, though is not essential.

Remuneration & Structure

  • Basic salary of £50,000 – £100,000 (dependent on experience)
  • On-target earnings in excess of £250,000
  • Access to an established client portfolio
  • Ongoing flow of high-quality client introductions
  • Comprehensive paraplanning and administrative support
  • Hybrid working, offering flexibility within a professional framework
  • Long-term opportunity to build equity and value within the practice

The Practice

Our approach is defined by discretion, consistency, and long-term thinking. We prioritise enduring client relationships and a measured approach to growth, ensuring advisers have the time and support required to deliver considered, high-quality advice.

We offer a collaborative and professional environment, designed to support advisers in building a sustainable and rewarding career at a high level.
