Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the Company:
A growing multidisciplinary advisory firm bringing together financial planning, UK and US tax, legal and investment expertise under one roof. Following continued expansion within its US tax offering, the business has developed a strong pipeline of Americans living in the UK who require genuinely joined-up cross-border financial advice. Rather than passing clients between unrelated specialists, the firm provides coordinated support through its in-house financial planning, tax, legal and investment teams.
Role
Summary:
You will become the trusted financial adviser to a dedicated portfolio of US-connected clients living in the UK, including US citizens, green card holders and dual nationals. The role combines mainstream UK financial planning with the additional complexities created when US and UK tax and investment rules overlap. You will advise across retirement, pensions, investments, estate planning and cashflow while identifying cross-border issues before they create problems for the client.
With a strong existing source of referrals and leads through the firm's US tax practice, the focus is on high-quality advice and long-term client relationships rather than significant self-generated business development. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of a specialist cross-border financial planning proposition, supported by hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver cross-border financial planning:
Advise across pensions, retirement, investments, estate planning and cashflow, giving you exposure to technically varied client cases.
• Identify US-connected planning risks:
Recognise considerations involving PFICs, FATCA, reporting-fund status and US-situs assets before recommendations are made.
• Recommend appropriate investment solutions:
Develop advice around US-compliant and PFIC-conscious investment strategies within a specialist international market.
• Own long-term client relationships:
Act as the primary adviser to a dedicated portfolio of internationally connected clients through ongoing reviews and planning.
• Collaborate with specialist colleagues:
Work directly alongside in-house US/UK tax advisers, solicitors and investment specialists to provide coordinated advice.
• Help develop the proposition:
Play a part in growing the firm's cross-border financial planning offering as demand from its US-connected client base increases. Requirements:
• Level 4 Financial Planning qualification through CII, CISI, DipFA or equivalent.
• Strong UK financial advice experience across pensions, investments, retirement and estate planning.
• Working knowledge of cross-border considerations including FATCA, PFICs and HMRC reporting-fund status.
• Ability to explain complex financial and tax-related issues clearly and confidently to clients.
• Experience advising US-connected clients would be highly desirable.
• Chartered / Level 6 status, or progress towards it, would be advantageous. Benefits:
Private Healthcare after 6 months, Life Insurance at 4x salary after 2 years, Contributory Pension Scheme, Hybrid Working, Cycle to Work Scheme, Long Term Service Reward, Helping Hand Fund, Perkbox, Season Ticket Loans, Client Introduction Bonus, Staff Referral Bonus, Charitable Giving Scheme
