Following the recent Local Government Reorganisation for Oxfordshire announcement this is an exciting time to join theLaw, Governance and Strategy Directorate as we work towards the formation of a new unitary authority for Greater Oxford.

LGR brings a range of exciting opportunities within Oxfordshire, so now is the ideal time to join a growing,ambitious service at the heart of Oxford City Council.

We are looking for newly qualified and experienced lawyers who are proactive, confident, and candemonstratetheyhave the ability todeliver at pace, whilst also ensuring the Council’s strategic aims andobjectivesare met.

The role is a career grade opportunity to gain experience whilst working in a supportive team and towards career progression. The post holder will undertake a range of work within the Commercial and Contracts Team, with and without supervision, and work with the team and clients to support the Council in achieving its ambitions.

Experienced lawyers will have in-depth knowledge and experience to undertake a range of work within the Commercial and Contracts Team. You will be able to provide complex legal and procedural advice to elected members,agentsand other internal and external stakeholders to support the Council in achieving its ambitions.

A commercial and pragmatic focus, as well as an awareness of the political and corporate implications of decisions are needed too.

Exceptional communication, negotiation,collaboration and problem-solving skills are alsorequiredfor this role.
