Are you looking to work with children and young people as a Psychologist/CBT Therapist?

We have an opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our friendly psychology team within Getting More Help Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Abingdon on a full time basis for 12 months.

We welcome applications from qualified clinicians and those who are shortly due to complete their training. You will be part of an experienced and reflective multi-disciplinary team offering generic and specialist assessments in addition to holding a protected psychology caseload and contributing to the team’s work more broadly.

You will receive clinical supervision from our senior clinical psychologist, as well as management supervision within an environment that values the mutual support and skills of team members. We value staff wellbeing and are keen to provide regular training opportunities.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to really get involved in the Psychology provision offered within the Oxford South Locality. On a day-to-day basis, this will include:

  • Offering psychology assessments.
  • Offering psychology consultation to both CAMHS clinicians (within and external to our team) and Multiagency services (e.g. social care and schools) providing opportunities to engage with other professionals to share and disseminate psychological knowledge/understanding.
  • Delivering psychological interventions using a range of models through 1:1 sessions, group programmes and joint parent and young person work. There are opportunities for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Third Wave CBT, DNA-V (adolescent model for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and Compassion Focused Therapy in line with the existing evidence bases
