Operational Manager – Private Patients & Overseas
As an Operational Manager for Private patients and Overseas, you will manage and develop the Private Patients and Overseas Team operational function and services. You will lead the financial and operational management of private patient, overseas, international services and the injury cost recovery system, and you will collaborate with the Deputy Head and Head of Commercial for PP OSV and International on projects, plans and change initiatives.
Your role will ensure that private and overseas patients receive a high‑quality, professional administration service and benefit from excellent customer service. You will oversee day‑to‑day operational delivery, drive performance improvement and ensure the highest standard of patient care across our Private and Overseas Patients departments.
- Oversee financial budgeting, forecasting and reporting (including month‑end processes) and provide insightful analysis to support senior management in understanding variances.
- Lead the development and improvement of efficient operational processes across the Commercial Directorate, working with senior management as required.
- Lead improvement projects and ensure regular learning and review of current practices.
- Ensure staff are fully trained and follow new policies and procedures; ensure that all processes, procedures and policies relating to private patient, overseas, international and injury cost recovery services are regularly reviewed, up‑to‑date and communicated appropriately.
- Maintain excellent administrative, information and financial governance for the processes you oversee.
- Provide guidance, training and support to staff to ensure a high level of customer service for both external and internal customers.
- Ensure all staff, permanent and temporary, are appropriately inducted and have the resources and knowledge to perform their role.
- Collaborate with clinical and non‑clinical teams to enhance patient pathways, manage resources, ensure compliance with NHS standards, policies and frameworks, drive innovation and transformation initiatives, monitor KPIs and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in operational or managerial healthcare roles.
- Experience working with patient pathways.
- Proven experience managing a team in a complex environment.
- Experience managing budget and financial flows in healthcare settings.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations or a related field.
- Experience in the Private Patient sector.
- Ability to identify growth opportunities and improve service delivery.
- Postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties; disclosure checks via the Disclosure and Barring Service are required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.
