An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Research fellow to join the internationally recognised research teams within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (CVM), University of Oxford. CVM is renowned for excellence in translational and clinical cardiovascular research, delivering innovative studies that improve patient care and outcomes worldwide.

About the role

As Clinical Research Fellow, you will contribute to the Oxford Myocardial Infraction (OxAMI) study and associated BHF-funded translational research programmes investigating extracellular vesicle biology, inflammation and cardiovascular disease. OxAMI is a large prospective observational cohort study of patients admitted to the John Radcliffe Hospital with acute coronary syndromes and coronary artery disease. The study integrates advanced cardiovascular imaging, clinical phenotyping, biological sampling and mechanistic laboratory investigation to understand determinants of cardiovascular injury, repair and long-term outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with clinical, laboratory and computational research teams to deliver studies that examine the mechanisms of disease progression, tissue injury and repair following acute myocardial infarction. Responsibilities will also include overseeing the collection and processing of clinical samples, in addition to contributing to the analysis and integration of complex clinical datasets derived from the OxAMI cohort and related studies.

About

you

The successful Clinical Research Fellow must hold a primary medical degree and GMC registration, or an equivalent medical qualification. Working experience in cardiology at registrar level, alongside experience in basic laboratory techniques including cellular/plasma analyses is also essential.

This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract to 30 September 2027. The Clinical Research Fellow will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU
.
