Wheel Right are looking for a Software Delivery Lead with experience of keeping development teams focused, organised, and delivering. You'll be a key member of our software team managing Jira across multiple teams, facilitating agile ceremonies, and keeping stakeholders updated on progress and deliverables.
The successful candidate will take ownership of planning, execution and delivery of software projects. In an environment where scope, resourcing, and priorities evolve over time improving predictability of the development cycle can be a challenging role.
The delivery lead will work closely with software engineering leadership and senior stakeholders across the business to turn requirements into realistic development plans, produce clear resourcing requirements, and ensure delivery risks are surfaced early and clearly.
Key ResponsibilitiesDelivery Ownership & Predictability
- Own delivery planning, forecasting, and progress tracking across one or more software initiatives.
- Produce credible delivery forecasts, including assumptions, risks, and ranges where certainty is not yet possible.
- Actively identify delivery risks, dependencies, and constraints, and drive mitigation.
Ways of Working
- Work with the software team to implement Agile ways of working that fit within the organisation.
- Facilitate planning, review, and improvement activities to enhance the project performance and outcomes.
- Where outsourced developers are engaged in a project manage them as part of the team and ensure handover is executed effectively when they are off-boarded.
Stakeholder & Executive Communication
- Produce clear sprint reports and status updates to ensure delivery expectations remain realistic.
- Work with the Business Analyst to ensure backlog items are sprint-ready
- Coordinate UAT with internal stakeholders
- Escalate risks and dependencies proactively
Delivery Visibility & Tooling
- Use Jira as the primary tool for delivery planning, tracking, and transparency.
- Ensure epics, stories, dependencies, and risks are structured in Jira to support credible forecasting and stakeholder visibility.
- Build dashboards and reports that give real-time visibility
- Keep data clean, accurate, and actionable
- Manage Jira permissions and train teams on best practices.
Sprint & Delivery Coordination
- Facilitate sprint planning, refinements, and planning sessions
- Monitor progress, identify blockers, and track velocity metrics
- History of delivering projects through planning, execution and management of delivery risk and uncertainty.
- Proven experience leading delivery in complex, evolving software environments.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and agile ways of working
- Proven Jira proficiency (board config, workflows) for the management of software projects
- Exceptional organisational and planning skills. Excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating where requirements and constraints that may not be fully defined.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Confident communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in scale-ups, platform modernisation, or R&D-heavy environments.
- Experience transitioning delivery away from third-party vendors.
- Jira Admin or Scrum Master certification
- Experience facilitating agile ceremonies

This is a hybrid role and the employee will be expected to be able to attend the office in the north Oxford, UK.

Salary range (dependent on experience): £60,000 – £75,000 p.a.
