About

The Role

As a Product Manager supporting SSRN, Elsevier’s preprint server, you will work alongside the Senior Product Manager to help shape and deliver product enhancements that support researchers and scholarly communities. You will collaborate with engineering, analytics, operations, and content teams to turn user and business needs into clear product requirements, helping deliver meaningful improvements through data-informed decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria for SSRN features, ensuring stories are sprint-ready and clearly defined
  • Work with stakeholders across development, operations, and content teams to gather, clarify, and document requirements
  • Produce analytics reports and interpret outputs, including insights generated through AI-supported tools
  • Maintain backlog hygiene through grooming, sequencing, labelling, and prioritisation activities
  • Run or support Sprint ceremonies including standups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and sprint updates
  • Update sprint and release progress in JIRA and Aha, communicating status and blockers to stakeholders
  • Identify and prioritise production issues and defects using data to support resolution efforts
  • Support discovery, launch readiness activities, stakeholder communications, and collaboration with Analytics and Data Science teams
Requirements
  • Strong product thinking with an understanding of technology platforms and data architecture
  • Be able to document and write clear requirements using user stories for complex features or products, as part of our agile Sprint methodology.
  • Hands on experience in UX and Design highly desirable, such as using Figma for wireframe prototypes
  • Have experience in using an analytical, data-driven approach to identify areas for improvement, experience or willingness to learn using tools such as Adobe Analytics, Hotjar and Pendo.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and services and their application to process improvement and product delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and work independently
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with scholarly communications and preprint culture is advantageous
