Your Role:

EIT is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with demonstrable experience to design, build and operate a secure, scalable and highly available Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platform supporting enterprise applications, scientific research and AI workloads. Working closely with Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Software Engineering teams, you will deliver modern cloud services using Infrastructure as Code, automation and cloud-native best practices.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, automate and operate secure, scalable, highly available OCI platform services and workloads.
  • Manage OCI networking, compute, storage, identity, DNS, load balancing, object storage, monitoring and logging.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with Git-based CI/CD.
  • Implement cloud security controls, IAM roles and policies, network segmentation, secrets management, vulnerability remediation and audit requirements.
  • Establish platform monitoring, alerting, logging, capacity management, backup, disaster recovery and incident-response procedures.
  • Manage patching, upgrades, lifecycle management and service reliability for cloud workloads.
  • Support application, research and AI teams with reusable cloud patterns, self-service capabilities and technical guidance.
  • Optimise OCI consumption, performance and cost, working with stakeholders on forecasting and governance.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, standards, runbooks and operational procedures.
Essential Skills, Qualifications &

Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or another major public cloud platform.
  • Experience designing and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, security, monitoring and backup.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Power Shell or Python.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
Desirable Knowledge,

Skills and Experience:
  • OCI certifications, such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate or Professional.
  • Experience with Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE), Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience supporting AI, data, research or high-performance computing workloads.
  • Experience with cloud security, vulnerability management and compliance controls.
  • Knowledge of VMware, hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure integration.

Working Together
- What It Involves:

You must have the right to work permanently in the UK with a willingness to travel as necessary. You will live in, or within easy commuting distance of, Oxford (or be willing to relocate). During peak periods, some longer hours may be required and some working across multiple time zones due to the global nature of the programme.
