Digital and Information Services, Central Oxford

This position is being re-advertised. Previous applicants need not reapply.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Digital and Information Services Department as a Delivery Manager (Infrastructure).

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

Digital and Information Services is a key department that ensures that the University has robust, reliable and high-performing IT facilities it requires to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research and administration. We value and recognise our own and the contribution of others, creating a great culture to work in and a place where we all feel we belong.

As Delivery Manager you will facilitate the delivery of infrastructure initiatives (with a focus on the Microsoft 365 platform) coordinating resources, implementing agile practices, and maximising the value of investment in technologies.

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • 38 days of annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) to support your wellbeing, with the option to purchase up to 10 extra days and additional leave after long service.
  • One of the most generous family leave schemes in UK higher education, offering up to 26 weeks of full-pay maternity and adoption leave, plus 12 weeks of full-pay paternity/partner leave.
  • A commitment to hybrid and flexible working to suit your lifestyle.
  • Affordable and sustainable commuting options, including a cycle loan scheme, discounted bus travel, and season ticket loans.
  • Access to a vibrant community through our social, cultural, and sports clubs.
  • A Rental Deposit Loan Scheme for eligible new employees to access an interest‑free loan to help cover the cost of a rental deposit in Oxford.
About the Role

The role of Delivery Manager is to ensure the successful and effective delivery of products and services, either through defined project work or continuous improvement. The University of Oxford is a federated organisation, with core IT and Digital services delivered by IT Services alongside departmental, college and divisional IT functions. The Delivery Manager (Infrastructure) will play a key role in coordinating people, resources and technology to maximise investment in Microsoft technologies across the University’s federated model.

This is a varied and collaborative role requiring strong agile delivery experience, with responsibility for planning and organising work, breaking down complex requirements into manageable deliverables, managing priorities, dependencies and capacity, and ensuring a clear and sustainable flow of work across the team.

You will build trust, motivate and empower the team to deliver effectively, while understanding its current level of agile maturity and adapting your approach to Oxford’s delivery model and federated environment. You will champion effective agile ways of working, supporting continuous improvement in planning, prioritisation, delivery flow and team effectiveness. You will also manage risks and dependencies, monitor budgets and resources, and build strong relationships across the University to ensure services are delivered efficiently, securely and with a strong focus on user needs.
