About the Firm:

Our client is a highly regarded national law firm with an established and successful Private Client service. The department comprises over 100+ fee earners across several well-established offices and is recognised for its work with high-net-worth individuals and international clients.

The Oxford office is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor, Legal Director, or Partner to join and help lead a thriving team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to take on a leadership role within a growing and reputable practice.

The Role:

You will manage your own caseload of complex private client matters while also playing a key role in mentoring junior fee earners and contributing to the strategic direction of the team. Depending on experience, this position offers the opportunity to step into a Legal Director or Fixed Share Partner role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a broad range of Private Client matters, including:
    • Preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney for UK and international clients
    • Estate planning, including lifetime and post-death planning involving inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax advice
    • Estate administration, including obtaining grants of probate or letters of administration, dealing with foreign domicile, re-sealing of grants and intestate estates
    • Preparation of deeds of variation, gifts and family arrangements
    • Advising on the creation, management and administration of trusts, working alongside the firm's dedicated Trust Administration team
  • Oversee and develop the Oxford Private Client team (currently five or more fee earners)
  • Deliver technical advisory work to high-net-worth clients and maintain high professional standards
  • Manage team performance, workflow and client service delivery
  • Work collaboratively with senior management on strategic goals and practice development through internal referrals rather than external BD

Prospects:

  • Clear progression path from Legal Director to Partner based on performance and contribution
  • Exposure to long-standing, prestigious client relationships to include high-value private clients

About You:

  • Solid background in Private Client law, ideally at Senior Associate, Legal Director, or Partner level
  • STEP qualified (preferred)
  • Strong technical knowledge of wills, trusts, tax and estate planning
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring junior team members
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and client care skills
  • Ambitious, commercially aware and keen to play a key role in the continued success of the Oxford Private Client practice
