Maintenance Assistant

Job Overview

As a Maintenance Assistant based in Oxford, you will join a school premises team responsible for maintaining a safe, secure and well‑maintained environment. This temporary role offers up to £13.16 per hour for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

• Perform day‑to‑day repairs, maintenance and improvement work across the building and grounds (basic plumbing, joinery, plastering, electrical, decoration).
• Support on‑site projects, liaise with contractors and ensure high‑quality work standards.
• Maintain compliance with Health and Safety procedures, including asbestos management and equipment checks.
• Assist with caretaking duties such as porterage, building security, and support evening or weekend events when required.
• Carry out regular maintenance checks, keep accurate records and respond to occasional out‑of‑hours emergencies.
