We are looking for a motivated person to join Facilities Team based around

central Oxfordshire. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for someone who wants to start a

career in building maintenance, facilities operations, or engineering.

You don’t need years of experience — just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a genuine

interest in hands on work. We will provide full training and support to help you develop your skills.

About the Role

As a Junior Maintenance Technician, you will work alongside experienced team members to help

keep our buildings running smoothly and safely. You’ll be trained in a wide range of tasks, from basic repairs to planned safety checks.

With training and supervision, you will:

- Carry out basic building repairs and general maintenance.

- Support routine inspections and testing, including fire alarms, emergency lighting,

and other safety equipment.

- Help complete logbooks, forms, and electronic records.

- Assist with the induction and supervision of external contractors.

- Respond to general helpdesk requests such as meeting room setups or moving

furniture.

- Assist with small projects, including office/lab moves and refurbishments.

- Take part in an out of hours on call rota once fully trained

Essential qualities:

- A genuine interest in maintenance, engineering, or practical hands on work.

- Good problem solving instincts and a willingness to learn from experienced

colleagues.

- Confidence using hand tools (or a desire to learn).

- Able to carry out manual handling, such as moving equipment or furniture.

- Good communication skills and a friendly, respectful approach with colleagues and

contractors.

- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained.

- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

- A full driving license (or working toward one).

Desirable (but not required — full training given):

- Any experience helping with DIY, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building tasks.

- Experience in a facilities or maintenance environment.

- Basic understanding of planned preventative maintenance.

- Knowledge of health & safety, risk assessments, or permits to work.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook especially).

- Experience in a lab or scientific workplace.

- Full clean driving license

- Own vehicle

Working Hours

40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00 (1 hour lunch).

Overtime and callout work will occasionally be required once fully trained.

Travel between sites is expected.
