Strategic Residential Leadership & Client Management

Future Gen Recruitment is representing a highly respected consultancy seeking an MRTPI Associate Planner to take a leadership role within its Oxford team.

This is a key hire within a business delivering high-value residential projects, strategic housing allocations and complex planning work across Oxfordshire. The team advises on projects that often involve political sensitivity, heritage constraints and significant stakeholder engagement — requiring a planner who can balance technical credibility with commercial understanding.

The Role

As Associate Planner, you will combine project leadership with team mentoring and commercial responsibility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading major residential and mixed-use planning strategies
  • Managing key client relationships and ensuring repeat instructions
  • Overseeing Local Plan submissions and strategic land promotion
  • Leading appeal strategies and coordinating inquiry teams
  • Supporting and mentoring junior planners and mid-level staff
  • Managing project budgets, programmes and consultant coordination
  • Supporting fee proposals, tenders and business development activity
  • Ensuring quality control across major planning submissions

This is a role for someone who wants influence, visibility and progression.

About You
  • Strong consultancy or developer-side planning experience
  • Proven ability leading complex planning applications and strategy work
  • Strong client management and stakeholder negotiation skills
  • Commercially driven mindset and interest in business growth
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and supporting team performance

A standout opportunity to step into a senior role in one of the UK’s strongest planning markets.

All applications handled confidentially.
