Role Responsibilities- Lead, plan and manage the site’s day‑to‑day maintenance function for 40 full‑time hours per week (8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday) with a team of four.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Work with the General Manager to meet service standards in line with SOPs and SLAs.
- Deliver the annual planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme through both directly employed and sub‑contracted staff, on time and within budget.
- Manage the CAFM system, allocating planned and reactive tasks and maintaining accurate records of breakdowns and repairs.
- Supervise sub‑contracted and direct staff, issuing permits‑to‑work, tracking training records and performance.
- Plan staff resources, monitor training and performance, and promote continuous improvement.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks and demonstrate a strong understanding of health and safety.
- Assist the General Manager with the sinking fund programme and other strategic projects.
- Escalate health and safety issues to the General Manager and ensure follow‑up actions are completed.
- Participate in an on‑call rota and work during student arrival and departure periods as required.
- Execute additional duties as required by the position.
- Provide a competitive salary of £40,685 per annum.
- Minimum of 3 years managing and coaching a maintenance team in a similar environment.
- Level3 qualification in plumbing or electrical (or equivalent technical knowledge).
- Strong knowledge of PPM regimes for mechanical, electrical, public health and building fabric.
- In‑depth understanding of statutory compliance and a commitment to a safe, professional working culture.
- Resilient, able to manage competing priorities in a busy operational setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive leadership, hands‑on approach and ability to impact the wider team.
- Good IT skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Willingness to work both on and off tools where needed.
