Senior Health, Safety and Security Advisor

Are you an experienced health, safety and security professional looking to lead safety strategy across a large healthcare organisation? We are seeking a leader to develop and deliver the Trust's Fire, Health and Safety, Security and Contractor Management arrangements to provide a safe, secure and compliant environment for patients, staff, visitors and contractors.

As the Trust's subject matter expert, you will provide strategic leadership, professional advice and operational assurance across all sites, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, NHS guidance and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. You will develop governance frameworks, identify and manage risks, and support safeguarding, infection prevention and control, risk management and incident investigation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Trust's Fire Safety, Health and Safety, Security and Contractor Management functions.
  • Develop and implement strategic policies, procedures and assurance frameworks to maintain compliance and best practice.
  • Provide expert advice to the Board, Executive Team and senior managers on safety, security and compliance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including NHS standards and CQC expectations.
  • Maintain effective systems for risk management, monitoring, auditing and reporting across the Trust.
  • Lead investigations into significant incidents and support organisational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to promote a positive culture of safety and security.
  • Support the Trust in delivering safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and wider risk management responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent
  • Evidence of scenario-based assessment
  • Knowledge of current health, safety and security legislation
  • Evidence of working autonomously and managing priorities
  • Significant experience in health, safety and security management
  • Experience in risk assessment and audit, incident investigation, and contractor management
  • Knowledge of Construction (CDM) regulations
Skills
  • Experience in accident investigation and lessons learned; ability to work with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of H&S legislation and guidance, including HSG
    65 and healthcare premises considerations
