Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Atlantic Institute was established in 2016 through a partnership between The Atlantic Philanthropies and the Rhodes Trust. Its mission is to amplify the influence and impact of the Atlantic Fellows and the seven Atlantic Fellows Programmes, supporting a lifelong global community committed to advancing fairer, healthier, and more inclusive societies. Today, the Institute connects more than 1,000 Atlantic Fellows across five continents, bringing together courageous and collaborative leaders from a wide range of sectors, disciplines, and lived experiences.

Through convening, learning, partnership and collective action, the Institute fosters a vibrant global network dedicated to addressing inequity and creating lasting social change.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the next phase of the Atlantic Institute’s development. As the organisation approaches its second decade, the new Executive Director will build on strong foundations, a clear sense of purpose, and an influential global community. Working closely with the Atlantic Institute Governing Board, the Atlantic Fellows Programmes, Fellows, and the Rhodes Trust, the Executive Director will shape and deliver the Institute’s strategic direction, strengthen connections across the global Atlantic community, and maximise the Programmes contributions to equity and social impact.

The role will require an inspiring and inclusive leader who can convene diverse voices, foster collaboration across institutional and geographic boundaries, and ensure that the Institute continues to be a trusted platform for connection, learning, and collective leadership.

We are seeking an outstanding leader with a track record of success in complex organisations, networks, or movements and a demonstrable commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice. You may come from the philanthropic, charitable, academic, public, or social change sectors, but you will bring strategic vision, intellectual curiosity and a deep understanding of how to build partnerships and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.

You will have the credibility and emotional intelligence to engage a global community, the ability to lead through collaboration rather than hierarchy, and the judgement to navigate complexity, difference, and change with confidence and humility. Above all, you will share the Atlantic Institute’s belief in the power of community, leadership, and partnership to create meaningful and lasting change in the world.
