Branch Manager - Corporate & Private Banking

Oxford / Oxfordshire

Summary

An established relationship-led bank is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead its Wiltshire branch. This is a high-profile leadership role with full responsibility for the branch's performance, growth, people leadership, credit quality, and customer experience.

Acting as the most senior representative in the local market, you will play a key role in developing long-term client relationships, leading a successful team, driving business development activity, and maintaining strong credit and risk standards.

About the Role

Reporting into senior regional leadership, you will have overall accountability for the success of the branch, managing a team of approximately 10-20 people across corporate and private banking activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing branch team.
Driving growth through the acquisition and development of new banking relationships.
Acting as the face of the branch within the local business community.
Developing relationships with professional introducers including lawyers, accountants, mortgage brokers and other business networks.
Hosting and attending local events to further strengthen the branch's market presence.
Maintaining oversight of lending and credit decisions within agreed authorities.
Acting as the highest local level of credit discretion, reviewing and approving credit proposals that sit outside individual team member mandates.
Ensuring robust credit risk assessment, governance and regulatory compliance across the branch.
Working with both private and corporate customers across lending, mortgage and wider banking products.
Delivering sustainable branch profitability whilst maintaining excellent customer outcomes.

Profile

Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with experienced banking leaders who bring a combination of people leadership, commercial acumen, and strong credit judgement.

To be successful, you are likely to have:

Previous experience as a Branch Manager, Area Manager, Senior Relationship Manager or Banking Director within corporate, commercial, private or business banking.
Experience leading and developing teams, ideally managing between 10-20 employees.
Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, lending structures and credit approval processes.
Experience operating within personal lending, mortgage lending, commercial lending and wider banking products.
The ability to make balanced lending decisions and exercise sound judgement in higher-value or more complex credit situations.
A proven track record of building relationships with local businesses, professional introducers and key stakeholders.
Strong networking and business development capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the credibility to represent the bank externally.
Commercial awareness, leadership presence and a customer-centric approach.
Experience managing branch performance, profitability and operational risk.
