Join us on this mission as a Pyro Shift Supervisor within the friendly and supportive Operations department, based in Chalgrove, Oxfordshire. This role will involve working a 4-on-4-off shift pattern from 07:00 – 16:30, which will include a shift allowance. Before the shift, during the training period you will be working the regular hours of 08:00 – 16:45 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 – 12:00 on Fridays.
What you’ll be doingAs Pyro Shift Supervisor, your key accountability will involve implementing work packs / requirements, ensuring that colleagues have resources necessary to deliver their roles across pyrotechnic manufacturing, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), stores / packing departments. You’ll proactively work through operational challenges, working cross-departmentally with site teams, ensuring that KPIs (key performance indicators) are achieved.
You’ll ensure that product quality and safety standards are maintained, delivering manufacturing procedures across various teams, relating to ‘on time’ delivery performance and product lead times.
Key aspects of the role will involve:
- Allocating work duties to team members, to support the production schedule.
- Ensuring a high performing safety culture across manufacturing teams, adhering to operational standards and practices.
- Support with monitoring performance and briefing teams with operational requirements.
- Support with maintaining and monitoring department KPIs.
- Working in partnership with quality assurance and production engineering colleagues with defects, helping to address and implement corrective actions.

Characteristics & Skills- Production manufacturing experience gained from a similar environment, the automative sector, or engineering businesses that support defence/aerospace sectors.
- Broad working knowledge of current manufacturing concepts such as lean manufacturing, TQM, SPC, MRP, IIP and Value Stream Mapping.
- Previous experience managing a team is desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Can work independently and proactively to meet ongoing business needs.
- Committed to the highest standards.
- Share and demonstrate the Martin-Baker Values.
- Grade Pass in Mathematics/English GCSE (or equivalent)
