Manufacturing Technician / Production Engineer (Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Leicester
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (Approx. 4 Months)
Start Date: Immediate Start Available
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Technician / Production Engineer to support the production and development of advanced superconducting materials within a highly innovative engineering environment.
Working as part of a specialist team, you will be involved in the manufacture of high-precision superconducting tape products, supporting both production activities and ongoing research and development projects during an important growth phase of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading, threading and setting up production machinery.
- Carrying out machine preparation activities before and after production runs.
- Performing quality assurance checks, machine loading and process set-up activities.
- Running and monitoring production lines during an early-stage manufacturing development programme.
- Handling delicate and high-value superconducting materials with precision and care.
- Supporting tape insertion and processing operations involving long-length products of up to 150 metres.
- Ensuring correct machine settings and process parameters are achieved to meet stringent quality standards relating to tape thickness and electrical performance.
- Assisting with troubleshooting, fault finding and technical problem solving across manufacturing processes.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and process development activities.
- Supporting the build, commissioning and optimisation of new production lines.
- Working closely with engineering and R&D teams to develop and improve manufacturing techniques.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, production engineering or process engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience setting up and operating technical production equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve manufacturing challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with precision-engineered or delicate products would be highly advantageous.
- Comfortable working within an R&D-led manufacturing setting where processes are continually evolving.
- Experience with automated production machinery such as weaving machines, looms or similar equipment would be beneficial.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
