This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller, Programmer, Manufacturing Engineer or Estimator with strong machining knowledge who is looking to move into a more commercial position combining estimating, customer liaison and business development.
The Role
You will be responsible for reviewing customer drawings and specifications, assessing machining requirements and producing accurate quotations for CNC-machined components.
The position will also involve working closely with existing and prospective customers, identifying new opportunities and helping to develop new business.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce accurate quotations for CNC machining work
* Review engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements
* Estimate machining times, tooling, materials and manufacturing costs
* Assess the most efficient manufacturing methods for components
* Work with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling requirements
* Liaise with production and engineering teams regarding manufacturing feasibility
* Communicate directly with customers regarding technical and commercial requirements
* Follow up quotations and develop new opportunities
* Support business development and customer account growth
* Build strong long-term relationships with new and existing customers
Ideal Background
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
* Strong hands-on CNC machining or programming experience
* Excellent knowledge of 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling
* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
* Good understanding of machining processes, tooling, cycle times and tolerances
* Previous estimating experience beneficial but not essential
* Strong communication and customer-facing skills
* Commercial awareness and an interest in business development
* Experience with in precision engineering, aerospace, motor sport, defence or similar high-precision industries would be advantageous
This could suit an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist who wants to progress away from the machines and develop their career within estimating, sales and business development.
Package
£40,000 – £50,000 per annum DOE
