Pre & Post Op Lead Nurse / ODP – Brand New Private Hospital

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Salary: up to £45,000 per annum plus Bonus & Competitive Company Benefits

We are looking for a motivated Pre-Op Assessment and Post-Op Unit Lead to join a brand-new private hospital. This role involves leading day‑to‑day unit operations, post‑anaesthetic recovery, emergency response, and the development of high‑quality pre‑operative assessment services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the unit day‑to‑day, ensuring safe, efficient patient flow from admission to discharge
  • Take clinical leadership in post‑anaesthetic recovery
  • Recognise and respond to acute deterioration, leading emergency situations when needed
  • Develop and lead a high‑quality Pre‑Operative Assessment service
  • Support, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Work closely with consultants, anaesthetists, and theatre teams
  • Drive continuous improvement, governance, and patient safety standards
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC)
  • Strong surgical background
  • Experience in post‑op care, day surgery, or inpatient surgical settings
  • Additional experience in Recovery, HDU, or ITU highly advantageous
  • Previous Band 6 (or equivalent) experience minimum – ready to step up or already operating at Band 7
  • Confident in leading teams and managing acute clinical situations
  • Willingness to complete Advanced Life Support (ALS) and be part of the Resus team
