Locum * Practice Nurse Gp Surgery

Job Summary

Working with a busy GP surgery in Oxford, Dream Medical urgently requires a full-time Locum Practice Nurse to start ASAP. Duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by a Practice treatment room nurse, and any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate.

• Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as required.
• Chronic disease reviews (COPD and Diabetes)
• Asthma reviews
• Cytology screening
• Childhood and adult vaccinations, administering vaccines under patient group directions.
• Wound care including compression bandaging
• Removal of sutures
• Contraception advice
• Doppler studies and interpretation
• Prescribed injections – including Zoladex implants
• Urinalysis
• ECGs
• Phlebotomy (venepuncture)
• Requesting basic pathology tests (e.g., urine culture, swabs)
• Assisting GPs and contraceptive nurse with minor surgery and coil fittings
• Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
• NHS health promotion programmes: holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise. Facilitating behaviour change.

• Current experience working as a Practice Nurse.
• Current NMC registration is essential.

Practice Nurses with QOF experience are also required.

We are currently working with a friendly GP surgery in Nottingham who requires a practice nurse to cover a minimum of 2 days a week. You will work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team.
