Clinical Leader - Theatres

Job Summary

Deputy of Endoscopy and Surgical Department at Oxford Hospital. Fixed‑term maternity leave cover, part‑time, up to £47,000 pro‑rata (30 hours per week). Clinical Leader role responsible for running theatre lists, booking, and managing the clinical and endoscopy teams. Promotes clinical risk management, governance, audits and equipment. Requires registration with an appropriate governing body and relevant qualifications in surgery/anaesthetics or as a Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner.

• Conduct and organise the clinical/surgical and endoscopy team within theatre, ensuring smooth running of theatre lists and booking forms.
• Work collaboratively across theatre suites to meet service demands of Endoscopy, General, Orthopedics, Gynae.
• Promote effective clinical risk management and governance, including safety, quality improvement and policy adherence.
• Maintain extensive knowledge for audits and equipment, and demonstrate understanding of surgical techniques and associated equipment.
• Participate in continuous professional development, including Surgical First Assist training.

• Registered with the appropriate governing body (Nurse or HCPC Operating Department Practitioner).
• Relevant qualifications and post‑registration experience in surgery/anaesthetics.

• Strong clinical leadership, guiding teams with shared vision, promoting innovation and sustainability.
• Good communication and organisational skills, ability to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of running a smooth and effective department, including equipment management.
