Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Paediatric Critical Care team.
Hours:
37.5 per week (minimum 23 hours per week);
Ramlised shifts across PCCU, Outreach and Retrieval services as negotiated with the Senior Nursing Team.
Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum. Site:
John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
- Provide clinical leadership ensuring a high standard of individualised nursing and family‑centred care is delivered to critically ill children.
- Act as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team, communicating effectively with all levels of medical and nursing staff.
- Uphold PCCU’s Nursing Philosophy of Care.
- Effectively manage PCCU on a day‑to‑day basis in the absence of a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Post holders will work a minimum of 23 hours per week across days, nights and weekend shifts.
Person Specification Qualifications- RSCN (Child)/RN (Adult) NMC Registered
- Recognised UK Paediatric Critical Care Course (e.g. PCCS or HEI accredited)
- Degree level study or working towards a degree
- Evidence of commitment to teaching staff and students
- Relevant Critical Care nursing experience
- Demonstrates knowledge of value and use of research findings
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
- Aware of the qualities required of staff working in Critical Care
- Insight into managerial issues in relation to people and resources
- Clinical knowledge in the area of speciality and excellence in practice
- Experience of leading and supporting a team in a clinical area
- Knowledge/experience of audit, implementation of quality improvement measures, and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development
