Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on a 30 bedded Adult Surgical Ward that cares for four main specialties:
Plastic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Ear, Nose & Throat and Ophthalmology. As a member of the nursing team, you will support the senior nurses to deliver a high standard of care to patients in a caring and safe environment.

• Demonstrate and promote a patient and family centred style of clinical practice.
• Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge.
• Accurately document and report to other members of the nursing team, multi-disciplinary team and family/carers regarding the care given to patients, and communicate changes as they occur.
• Respond to emergency situations with composure, maintain patient safety and seek immediate support, supporting patients, family/carers and other staff as required.
• Identify and discuss patient needs with the team/staff, patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team; plan own workload.
• Demonstrate a problem solving approach to effectively execute planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised plans of care based on a person centred model of care.
• Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.

• Registered Nurse (First or Second level registration) with Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies.
• Previous experience in Plastic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Ear, Nose & Throat and Ophthalmology.
• You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
