Position: (Fixed Term) Specialist, On-The-Floor, Quality Assurance

This role is based in Harwell
, where you will support Moderna's Individualized Neoantigen Therapy (INT) unit, contributing to the delivery of innovative, personalized medicines. As part of a collaborative manufacturing environment, you will help ensure the highest standards of quality and GMP compliance while supporting the continued evolution of advanced mRNA manufacturing capabilities.

This is an opportunity to provide independent quality oversight within a highly regulated GMP manufacturing environment, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Facilities teams. You'll make critical quality decisions in real time, helping to ensure manufacturing excellence while enabling the successful delivery of individualized therapies. Working within a digitally enabled environment, you'll also have opportunities to engage with innovative technologies and evolving data-driven and AI-enabled approaches that continue to shape the future of manufacturing quality.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide independent quality oversight of manufacturing activities and facilities supporting Moderna's Individualized Neoantigen Therapy (INT) manufacturing operations.
  • Deliver quality on-the-floor support during manufacturing operations, reviewing batch documentation and providing real-time guidance for manufacturing activities, including changeovers and operational issues.
  • Make sound, independent quality decisions that support manufacturing operations while ensuring appropriate escalation of critical issues.
  • Identify quality and GMP risks, proactively communicating gaps within quality systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Review and approve facility alarms, facility work order requests, and return-to-service documentation.
  • Support, review, and approve deviations, change controls, and associated CAPAs, ensuring timely and compliant resolution.
  • Provide quality oversight for method qualifications and validations.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Facilities teams to investigate and resolve equipment and process-related issues.
  • Author, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and quality documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with cGMP requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Support internal audits and contribute to inspection readiness activities.
  • Practice safe working habits and consistently adhere to Moderna's safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Work a rotating 12-hour night shift, providing critical quality oversight during manufacturing operations.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
  • 3-5+ years' experience in a GMP manufacturing environment with a bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field
  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work
