Location: Pandemic Sciences Institute, Li Ka Shing Centre for Health and Information Discovery, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LF
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Computational Vaccinology to join the Pandemic Science Institute’s (PSI) efforts in computational vaccinology and vaccine trial design.
Key Responsibilities- Analyse immunological data from the Ch Ad Ox1 NipahB vaccine trial to identify immune markers that may serve as early correlates of protection.
- Develop and apply new frameworks to interpret and evaluate immune markers as correlates of protection in vaccine trials and real‑world effectiveness studies.
- Collaborate with immunologists, mathematical modelers, statisticians, and trial specialists at PSI, the International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research Bangladesh (icddr,b), and the Bangladesh Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IECDR).
- Participate in other systems immunology, modelling, and bioinformatics projects within PSI.
- Engage in funded training in machine learning and vaccinology.
- PhD/DPhil in a relevant quantitative field or near completion.
- Strong experience analysing complex datasets using machine learning methods and/or statistics.
- Proficiency in R, Python, Julia or other programming languages.
- Experience working with systems immunology data is an advantage.
- Evidence of successful collaboration with laboratory‑based researchers.
- High motivation and a multidisciplinary approach to computational vaccinology.
Full‑time, fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2028. Salary ranges from £39,424 to £47,779, with a discretionary range to £53,483 per annum. Research Grade 7, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year.
