Overview

Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA
. Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Mass Spectrometry to work under the supervision of Professor James SO McCullagh for a period of 3 years. The project involves the development and application of multiple mass spectrometry methods for detecting falsified and substandard vaccines, with particular focus on MALDI-TOF analysis. The role will involve interactions with multiple collaborative projects across departments and is funded by the MRC DPFS.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply multiple mass spectrometry methods for detecting falsified and substandard vaccines, with emphasis on MALDI-TOF analysis.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders in academia and industry; liaise with colleagues in the Department of Biochemistry and the Nuffield Department of Medicine; foster international links.
  • Work with experienced doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in the Department of Chemistry on related projects.
Qualifications
  • Hold at least an undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a relevant subject area prior to taking up the appointment.
  • Experience in analytical chemistry and prior experience working with mass spectrometry or similar analytical instrumentation and sample analysis.

and is available from Tuesday 1 September 2026.

Salary
