We're looking for a talented and motivated Scientist to join our Cell Biology
team at Yellowstone Biosciences in Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the discovery and characterisation of novel T cell engaging cancer therapies within a fast-paced and collaborative biotech environment. You'll play a key role in designing, executing, and analysing cellular assays that support our drug discovery programmes and help drive critical scientific decisions.
Yellowstone Biosciences is a biotechnology spinout based in Oxford, focused on pioneering next-generation cancer treatments using advanced T cell engaging therapies. Our work builds on leading research from the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford, translating cutting-edge science into innovative therapeutics with real clinical impact.
As we continue to grow, we're seeking passionate scientists who are eager to contribute to breakthrough discoveries and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.
About the roleAs a Scientist within our Cell Biology team, you will design and perform a range of in vitro assays to evaluate novel therapeutic candidates. Working closely with colleagues across biology and protein science you'll generate high-quality experimental data and contribute to projects from early-stage discovery through to decision-making.
This role is ideal for a laboratory-based scientist who enjoys hands‑on research, solving complex scientific problems, and working within a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation cancer therapeutics.
What you will do- Design, perform, and analyse cell-based assays to evaluate therapeutic candidates
- Culture and maintain mammalian cell lines and primary immune cells
- Conduct flow cytometry experiments, including staining, assay optimisation, data acquisition, and analysis
- Perform ELISA and other immunoassays to quantify cytokines, biomarkers, and protein expression
- Support assay development and optimisation
- Maintain accurate experimental records using electronic laboratory notebooks
- Analyse, interpret, and present experimental data to project teams
- Collaborate with colleagues across multiple scientific disciplines to advance research programmes
- Contribute to laboratory organisation, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with company safety and quality standards
- BSc, MSc, or PhD (plus 2+ years post-qualification research experience) in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline
- Hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques
- Practical experience performing ELISA assays
- Experience with flow cytometry, including sample preparation, staining, instrument operation, and data analysis
- Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience working with primary human immune cells, including PBMCs and T cells
- Knowledge of T cell biology, immune activation, and cancer immunology
- Experience with T cell functional assays, including cytokine release, proliferation, or cytotoxicity assays
- Familiarity with T cell engaging therapies, bispecific antibodies, CAR‑T, or TCR‑T approaches
- Experience using Flow Jo or similar flow cytometry analysis software
- Experience analysing scientific data using Graph Pad Prism or equivalent tools
- Understanding of assay development and validation principles
