This is a unique opportunity for a recent university graduate or a professional seeking to build a career in the energy sector and join our Oxford office as an Energy Modelling Analyst. The role focuses on modelling international natural gas markets, developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing modelling methodology, analysing data, formulating recommendations on future trends, and conveying insights to improve client decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Aurora’s international natural gas market model.
  • Work closely with the research and advisory team to define and implement scenario‑specific input assumptions and to derive insights from model results.
  • Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required attributes
  • Relevant degree in Economics, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field from a top university.
  • Genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and the ability to explain reasoning clearly.
  • Experience working with quantitative data through coursework, projects, or internships, including analysing data and drawing insights.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable attributes
  • Relevant Master’s degree or PhD.
  • Internship, research, or work experience in a quantitative or technical setting.
  • Interest in energy markets and how well‑designed models improve real‑world decisions.
  • Knowledge of statistical and/or optimization techniques.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support coding and analysis, with a critical eye for reviewing AI‑generated outputs.
  • Knowledge of an algebraic modelling language, e.g. GAMS.
