Postdoctoral Research Assistant – Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics, Clarendon Lab., Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PU
The post holder will conduct research in theoretical condensed matter physics with a focus on 2D materials and moiré systems, employing numerical techniques such as exact diagonalization, Monte Carlo, and tensor network methods. The role includes providing guidance to less experienced group members, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD students.
Responsibilities- Execute research projects on strongly correlated systems.
- Apply and develop numerical methods: exact diagonalization, Monte Carlo, Hartree-Fock, and tensor network techniques.
- Mentor junior researchers and students.
- PhD in physics or a closely related field, or near completion of a PhD.
- Extensive numerical expertise with 2D materials or moiré systems, including Hartree-Fock, Monte Carlo, and tensor network methods.
- Strong familiarity with the theory of strongly correlated systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Employment: full-time, fixed term of 12 months.
