Salary

Research Grade 7: £39,424 - £47,779 with a discretionary range to £53,483 per annum (pro rata). This includes a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).

Role Summary

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to lead cutting‑edge research into biomarkers and disease mechanisms to enhance therapeutic development for RNUopathies, including ReNU syndrome. Based within the Big Data Institute (BDI) and the Institute of Developmental & Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), you will join a multidisciplinary team investigating therapeutic approaches for rare neurodevelopmental disorders caused by variants in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead bioinformatic and statistical analysis of large‑scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets from human samples, cell lines, and mouse models.
  • Develop and implement novel analytical approaches where appropriate.
  • Manage and advance the research project.
  • Collaborate with internal and external researchers.
  • Contribute to the supervision of MSc and PhD students.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and documentation.
  • Disseminate findings through publications, presentations, and conferences.
  • Engage with patient advocacy groups.
  • Support public engagement and outreach activities.
Qualifications

You will have a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in a relevant field such as genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or statistics. You must have a track record of contributing to peer‑reviewed publications and presenting research findings at seminars, conferences, and scientific meetings. Proficiency in R and/or Python is required. You should have experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare publications, create clear and informative data visualisations, and present research to specialist and non‑specialist audiences.

Contract

Full‑time fixed‑term contract for two years.
