Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Membrane Supramolecular Chemistry to work under the supervision of Professor Matthew Langton for a period of up to six months. The project involves the synthesis of synthetic supramolecular transport systems for ions and other polar molecules that function within lipid bilayer membranes, and which can be controlled using external stimuli. The project is funded by The Royal Society.

Applicants must hold a PhD in synthetic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry or a related area (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in multi-step organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry in lipid bilayer membranes and related techniques.
You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Since this is a laboratory-based role, work will be performed on-site in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA
, and is available from Autumn 2026. The role is designed to be full-time, but we are happy to consider requests for part time or flexible hours.
