The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint two talented postdoctoral research associates under the joint supervision of Professor Penny Handford (Department of Biochemistry) and Professor Susan Lea (Dunn School of Pathology). Note that the two departments are located in close proximity within the Oxford Science Area. This project aims to investigate the role and extent of phospholipid binding in Notch‑ligands and to establish its role in the molecular mechanisms underlying Notch binding, trans‑activation, and cis‑inhibition by the Jagged/Serrate class of ligands.

The postholder must have a PhD or equivalent experience/qualification, and complete one period of postdoctoral research. You must have experience in expression and purification of proteins from heterologous expression systems and analysis of these proteins using biophysical and biochemical techniques together with experience in EITHER structural biology OR fluorescence‑based cell‑imaging techniques. The postholders should be meticulous in their approach to record keeping and highly organised, have excellent communication skills and be excellent team players.

These full‑time posts are available immediately, and are funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) for up to 3 years.
