Overview

Expressions of interest are invited for a Researcher to work with Jeremy Knox and the Critical Digital Education Research Group at the Department of Education, The University of Oxford. The principal duties are to develop applications for research grants, aligned with the areas of education, artificial intelligence, teaching, and inclusion. The post holder will review and synthesize existing literature, assist in scoping research designs, impact activities, and budgets, and manage their own academic research and administrative activities.

This includes small scale project management to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The role involves adapting existing and developing new research methodologies and materials, preparing material for grant applications, and reviewing and refining theories, methodologies, and impact activities as appropriate. The post holder will also develop ideas for generating research income and contribute ideas for extended research projects.

Other duties include collaborating in the preparation of research publications and book chapters, presenting papers at conferences or public meetings, and acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scoping research proposals.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with relevant experience and specialist knowledge in critical digital education.
• Ability to manage own academic research and associated activities; experience developing research grant applications.
• Competence in writing research proposals, conducting literature reviews, developing research designs, and scoping impact activities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and collaborations.

Details

• Part time: 0.4 FTE (two days per week), fixed term until 31 December 2026.
• Salary: £39,424 to £47,779 per annum, pro rata for part time (Grade
  7).
