They are now seeking a talented Applications Scientist to join their team in Oxford.
This role is integral to expanding existing coating chemistries and pioneering new projects in emerging applications. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and hands‑on scientist who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, contributing to sustainable technologies through practical lab work and new product development. You will be responsible for technical evaluation, market‑focused innovation, and solving complex challenges in functional coatings, ultimately contributing to the company's mission to address critical global environmental needs.
Responsibilities:- Lead and support research and development efforts for advanced coating chemistries.
- Conduct hands‑on laboratory work focused on organic chemistry, synthesis, and formulation.
- Develop new products and expand applications for existing proprietary coating technologies.
- Technically evaluate and characterise novel materials and coating performance.
- Drive market‑focused innovations in filtration, purification, separation, and bioprocessing.
- Solve complex technical challenges related to functional coatings and their applications.
- Collaborate closely with the R&D team to translate scientific advancements into commercial products.
- PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in chemistry if possessing a Master's or Bachelor's degree.
- Proven experience in polymeric membrane development and membrane separation processes.
- Hands‑on expertise in organic chemistry, synthesis, coating development, or formulation.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities within a chemical and materials science context.
- Solid understanding and experience with various chemical characterisation techniques.
- Eagerness to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced deep‑tech start‑up environment.
