Postdoctoral Research Associate in Molecular Mechanisms of Transcription-Replication Conflicts

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract for up to 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of further extension

Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Jones Lab in the Department of Biochemistry. This exciting project will explore how DNA replication and transcription machinery interact, and the molecular mechanisms that protect genome integrity during these critical cellular processes.

You will lead independent research, design and perform innovative experiments using biochemical and structural biology approaches, analyse complex datasets, and contribute to high-impact publications and future research funding applications. You will also collaborate with researchers across the department and support the development of postgraduate students.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 3 years in the first instance in the first instance.

The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

You will hold a PhD/DPhil, or be close to completion of a PhD/DPhil in a related discipline. You will have experience in recombinant protein expression and purification, together with expertise in at least one of the following areas: in vitro biochemistry, genome biology, or cryo-electron microscopy. We are looking for a proactive and collaborative researcher with excellent communication skills, the ability to manage their own research project, and a strong track record of scientific problem-solving.

You will be enthusiastic about contributing to a supportive team environment and keen to advance our understanding of fundamental biological processes.
