Department of Pharmacology, Mansfield Road, Oxford OX1 3QT

The Department of Pharmacology is involved in the investigation of basic questions concerning the interaction of chemical substances with biological systems. Research in the Department is focused on cell signalling, cardiovascular pharmacology, neuropharmacology and chemical biology.

We are seeking a new colleague to join our Professional Services team as a Research Facilitator. The post is available from 1 January 2027 on a permanent basis, subject to completion of an appropriate probationary period.

The aim of this new role is to enhance the Department’s research income and research culture by:

providing the Department’s researchers with professional support to ensure they submit the strongest and most competitive grant applications;

  • horizon scanning for relevant funding opportunities;
  • managing strategic activities aimed at enhancing opportunities for researchers from across the Department to share knowledge, collaborate and develop new joint research ideas;
  • creating an environment that nurtures and develops research talent by supporting the Department’s and the University’s academic career development processes; and
  • identifying and putting in place appropriate training opportunities for researchers ensuring the Department responds to changing funder and University policies and expectations.

You must hold a PhD in a scientific discipline, preferably in the broad field of biomedical sciences, and have experience of research facilitation/management. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential along with the ability to work independently as needed and to meet deadlines. You must have excellent interpersonal, team working and networking skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across a range of levels of seniorities.
