This post is an exciting opportunity provided by funding from the Adelson Medical Research Foundation. The aim of this post is to develop human cellular models of peripheral neuropathy to test novel therapeutic avenues.
These will include rare inherited neuropathies and diabetic peripheral neuropathy using sensory neurons differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells and to model them using advanced culture techniques (such as microfluidic chambers) and cellular stressors (which may be metabolic, drug induced including activators of SARM a key component of the Wallerian degeneration pathway or traumatic neuropathies).
We will investigate the downstream molecular pathways mediating cell death and axonal destruction using both targeted approaches but also genome-wide CRISPR screen.
The post will therefore suit an applicant who has an interest in the response to neural injury, the Wallerian degeneration pathways, iPSC models and some expertise in molecular biology.
For any queries regarding visa sponsorship, HR and the University's Staff Immigration Team will provide advice and assistance when the chosen candidate for the role has been identified.
The post is full time for a fixed term until
30th of September 2028.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Monday the 2nd of November 2026 will be considered.
Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
