Allocations Officer

Location:

Remote (Must be able to go to Oxford OX1 for training and to collect IT equipment)
Hourly rate: £22.40 PAYE

Hours:

37 hours per week

Contract:

Temporary until 21st March 2027
DBS:
Enhanced DBS required

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Allocations Officer to support the allocation of social housing through a Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system. This is primarily a remote role, with occasional office attendance required for training and equipment collection.

You will be responsible for managing housing allocations, carrying out eligibility and suitability checks, maintaining accurate records, and providing advice and support to customers in housing need.

Key Responsibilities

Allocate social housing in line with relevant housing legislation and policies.
Manage shortlists generated through the Choice Based Lettings system.
Complete pre-offer checks and suitability assessments.
Provide housing advice and support to applicants.
Maintain accurate case records and update housing management systems.
Work closely with internal teams, housing providers, and partner agencies.
Support vulnerable customers and help achieve positive housing outcomes.

About You

Experience working in housing allocations, housing needs, homelessness, or a similar customer-focused role.
Knowledge of social housing allocations and Choice Based Lettings.
Understanding of housing legislation, including the Housing Act and homelessness duties.
Strong communication, organisation, and case management skills.
Confident using Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
Able to work independently, manage a busy caseload, and deliver excellent customer service.

Desirable

Experience using a Housing Management System.
Housing qualification or relevant professional development.
Knowledge of welfare benefits and homelessness legislation.
