Admissions & Recruitment Outreach Assistant

Temporary Position - 15-20 hours per week.

Supports recruitment of prospective freshman and transfer students. Independently carries out day-to-day assignments without immediate supervision at no more than 20 hour per week, including those mentioned below.

Consistently visits community colleges, high schools, and/or community-based organization college fairs and guides a diverse pool of prospective students on admission and enrollment requirements. Supports the delivery of on-campus recruitment programs such as information sessions for prospective students and their supporters, campus tours, as well as admitted freshman and transfer events. Advises and counsels prospective undergraduate students and their supporters via various communication tools providing clear and concise explanations on admission requirements and application procedures;

this includes answering phones and emails, meeting with students virtually and in person, hosting as a greeter for students and families, and so on. Collaborates with on- and off-campus partners in support of admissions and recruitment related objectives. Lead and/or support various presentations including but not limited to application workshops, student celebrations, educational opportunities, and support services, among other topics.

Assists with other admissions and recruitment related functions and other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Currently enrolled in a graduate program damental written and oral communication skills including a sound foundation in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to understand standard office procedures and learn office systems. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations. Demonstrated ability to create and foster positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, student organizations, public and private agencies, among others. Ability to professionally present presentations and familiarity with office-related software used for word processing and creating spreadsheets.

Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for transportation is a must. Ability to work some evenings and weekends. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds (primarily in the form of recruitment materials).

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

Hiring Salary: $24.00 per hour
